Balchik is a sea resort in Dobrich area, located in north-eastern Bulgaria and is neighbouring to the famous resorts of Albena, Kranevo and Golden Sands. Balchik is an administrative and industrial centre of the Balchik municipality, according to 2011 census the population is approximately 11,321 inhabitants, although this swells during the summer season as tourist flock to the area.

The resort is famous for its historical inheritance; previously the home land territory of Thracians and Greeks who used it primarily for its maritime defensive advantages. Balchik has its own marina which offers berthing for more than 60 yachts, it has developed to become the main transport and cultural centre for the region.
